How long will my carpet stay wet in Stevenson Ranch summer heat?

Not long. This is the hottest, driest corner of the valley we cover, and the low humidity does most of the work for us. On a typical summer day, carpet cleaned in the morning is usually walkable in socks by early afternoon and fully dry well before bedtime. We still run air movers on stair runs and upstairs hallways, since those hold moisture a bit longer than open bedroom floors. In winter, or on a rare damp overcast day, add a few hours. If you have a pad-level urine treatment done, that area is the exception and takes longer by design, because the moisture has to come out of the pad and not just the face fiber.

We have dogs and a toddler. Can you actually get pet urine out, or does the carpet have to go?

Most of the time it does not have to go. Urine soaks through the face fiber into the pad, and in these homes that means either the pad over the slab downstairs or the pad over wood subfloor upstairs. Surface cleaning alone will not fix it, which is why the smell comes back a week later. We inspect the affected spots, treat down into the pad where it's needed, and in bad cases we'll pull back carpet, treat the subfloor or slab, and reset. Where it's a lost cause (heavily saturated pad, delaminated backing) we'll tell you that straight instead of taking your money for a cleaning that won't hold. Kids' room juice and food staining is a much simpler fix and usually comes out with normal cleaning and spot work.

We don't quote a number over the phone before seeing the carpet, because the same square footage can be two different jobs. What moves the price: how many rooms and flights of stairs, whether upstairs hallways and traffic lanes need extra pre-treatment, how many pet spots need pad-level work versus surface treatment, and whether we're moving furniture. The estimate is free, and you get a firm price before we start. No adjustment halfway through. Most Stevenson Ranch homes are similar in layout, so once we've walked it, the quote is quick.

Can you come out same day?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes, especially midweek and when a morning job wraps early. Weekends and the stretch before holidays fill up first. If you're calling because of a fresh pet accident or a spill, call anyway. Fresh is far easier than set, and if we can't get there same day we'll tell you what to do in the meantime so it doesn't set. For a normal maintenance cleaning, booking a few days out gets you a better time slot and lets you clear the rooms without rushing.

Two things going on in this area. First, fine dust and decomposed granite from the surrounding brush hills gets tracked in constantly, and it settles down into the base of the pile where a vacuum only reaches so far. That grit is what dulls nylon cut-pile and cut-and-loop. The fiber isn't stained, it's abraded and coated. Second, hard water. If a previous cleaning left detergent residue behind, that residue grabs dust and the carpet re-soils fast. We rinse thoroughly so there's nothing left in the fiber to attract soil. Good entry mats and vacuuming the stair treads and upstairs hallway more often than the bedrooms will stretch the time between cleanings noticeably.
