Usually a good part of it, but be realistic about what "clean" looks like on that kind of carpet. A lot of LA apartment stock (dingbats, courtyard buildings, newer multifamily) has thin low-pile laid over minimal pad straight on a concrete slab. There's nothing under it to cushion foot traffic, so the fibers get crushed and abraded in the lanes, and abrasion doesn't wash out. What we can remove is the soil packed into the pile: street grit, freeway soot, the fine dark particulate that gets tracked in and settles fast near the door. After cleaning, the lanes will be lighter and won't feel gritty, but if the pile itself is worn flat, that shading stays. We'll tell you which one you're looking at before we start rather than after.

How long does carpet take to dry here, especially in a unit that doesn't get much airflow?

It depends heavily on where you are and how the unit is laid out. In the western and southern parts of the basin, the marine layer keeps mornings damp well into the day, and an interior apartment with windows on only one side has almost no crossflow. Those are the units where carpet sits wet too long and the pad starts to smell musty. We plan for it: we control how much moisture goes in, extract hard on the return passes, and set air movers on the damp areas rather than assuming an open window will do the job. Call us with your key handover date and we'll work backward from it, including drying time so the carpet isn't damp when the landlord or manager walks it. Empty units are faster to clean, so scheduling is often easier than people expect. We can provide documentation of the service for your landlord if that's what the lease requires. What moves the price: how many rooms and how much of the floor is actually carpeted, since plenty of older LA houses have hardwood through the main rooms with carpet only in the bedrooms. Stairs, heavy traffic lanes needing extra passes, pet contamination that's soaked into pad, and how much furniture has to be moved all factor in. Whether we need to run air movers for a slow-drying interior unit matters too. Occupied units with everything still in place take longer than empty ones. We look at the actual space, then quote it.

Sometimes, depending on the day and where you are. LA is spread out and travel time between neighborhoods is the real limit, not the work itself. Same-day is most likely if you're near a job we already have booked. Call early rather than late afternoon and be flexible on the arrival window, and your odds go up. If we can't get to you same day, we'll say so plainly and give you the soonest honest slot instead of stringing you along. For urgent situations like a spill spreading or a leak that's soaked the pad, tell us when you call and we'll prioritize accordingly.
